Born in Lebanon of Armenian descent, Ms. Karine Koroukian began her piano studies at the age of five. She has been a first-prize winner in numerous competitions among which, the National Piano Competition in the compositions of Liszt and Ravel, for which she has been awarded with a cash prize by then President Amine Gemayel. The first-prize in The National Piano Competition in Spanish Music was also awarded to Ms. Koroukian, with a full scholarship for a summer study in the International Music Festival at “Musica en Compostela” in Spain, under the mentorship of Mr. Manuel Carra and Ms. Alicia de Larrocha. She has been widely broadcast on the National TV of Lebanon, the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation (LBC), the National Radio “Voice of Lebanon”, and on WQXR in New York, a live broadcasting of a Chamber Music Festival from Mannes College of Music.

Ms. Koroukian pursued her higher education in music at McGill University in Montréal and Mannes College of Music in New York City. Among her teachers were Mr. Stepan Emiyan, Mr. Charles Reiner, Ms. Diane Walsh, Ms. Pavlina Dokovska, Mr. Artur Papazian and Ms. Nelly Ben’Or. She has been performing as a recitalist in the Middle East, Europe, Canada and the US. She currently resides in New York City, has a private teaching studio and is a faculty member at the Church Street School for Music & Art and New World Music Center.
