In June 2007, 11 year-old Angela Grigoryan, a student of Vanadzor Art School, will be the first participant representing Armenia at the International Art Olympiad in Washington. The Olympiad is organized by "The International Child Art Foundation"_ICAF every four years. To participate in these events children from over 60 countries are selected, according to talent, to best represent their nations. In Oct.22, 2006, Naregatsi Art Institute invited an independent Jury consisting of 11 artists in order to select the winning painting. The members first selected 50 paintings out of the 177 works that were applied by different children. In the next step they narrowed the selection down to 3 paintings and thereby the winning participant was announced. The theme of the Olympiad was "My Favorite Sport" and Angela had selected Chess as hers. In Second place was the painting of Albert Baghdasaryan, a student of "P. Ganachyan" Art School, in Yerevan, and in the third Nare Haroutyounyan of "N.Aghbalian" school. Seta Iskandarian, who is in charge of the children's projects in Naregatsi Art Institute, took the initiative of involving Naregatsi Art Institute as the representative associate of the third International Art Olympiad. By the courtesy of Nareg Haroutyounyan, founder and president of NAI, all the applicants were presented with certificates of participation and valuable gifts.
