Literary-Musical Evening at NAI
2026-10-10 19:00 | Naregatsi Art Institute
On October 10th at 7:00 PM, Naregatsi Art Institute will host a discussion dedicated to the creative work of Swedish writer Stig Dagerman as part of the Cultural Exchange Program, featuring the writer's daughter, Lo Dagerman, and Aret Madilian, founder of the French-Armenian Band Deleyaman.
Stig Dagerman is one of the most talented and influential figures of the 20th-century Swedish literature. Despite his short life (he died at the age of 31), he left behind a rich literary legacy, becoming a leading representative of Sweden's "Generation of the 1940s" of the post-war period.
Deleyaman is an Armenian-French-American musical band founded in 2000 in Normandy, France, by arranger Aret Madilian, French singer Beatrice Valantin, and French-Armenian duduk player Gerard Madilian.
On October 10th at 8:00 PM, the Band Deleyaman and poet Lia Petrosyan will present a joint poetic performance featuring musical pieces by Deleyaman, alongside the reading by Lia Petrosyan of Stig Dagerman’s short story "Our Need of Consolation is Insatiable” in Armenian translation.
The story was translated from French by Shushanik Tamrazyan.
Stig Dagerman’s short story "Our Need for Consolation is Insatiable" (Vårt behov av tröst är omättligt, 1952) is a lyrical, autobiographical essay-testament in which Dagerman speaks candidly about the meaning of life, depression, and inner freedom.
