Lecture at NAI
2026-10-20 19:00 | Naregatsi Art Institute
On October 20th, at 7:00 PM, Naregatsi Art Institute will host a lecture by Shogher Khachatryan entitled "In the World of Isahakyan's Manuscripts".
On the eve of Avetik Isahakyan's birthday, Shogher Khachatryan will present the Master from another side, previously unknown to the reader, based mainly on the writer's notebooks, diaries, and letters.
When in 1977 Aram Inchikyan prepared Avetik Isahakyan's "Memoirs" for publication, collecting and systematizing almost the entire original text from the poet's various notebooks, the rich diary material entered scholarly circulation and began to be frequently used when examining various aspects of Isahakyan’s life and work.
After the publication of the complete diaries, a substantial number of the poet's pocket notebooks remained unpublished.
Isahakyan made notebook entries in parallel with his diary entries, and sometimes instead of them. The notebooks contain a wide variety of notes differing in content, nature, and form. They serve as a valuable source for studying the poet's life, worldview, and creative work.
The vast majority of the notebook entries remain unpublished and unknown not only to the general public but also to many specialists.
They are set to be published in the 10th volume of Avetik Isahakyan’s academic edition, which will be released in 2027.
Shogher Khachatryan graduated from the Faculty of Philology at YSU. She defended her Candidate of Sciences dissertation entitled "Avetik Isahakyan’s Diaries and Memoirs."
She works at the M. Abeghyan Institute of Literature. She is the author of nine scholarly articles, two works on textual criticism, and one monograph.
