EMBRACING CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES - 12-year-old Rafael Martirosyan's Concert

Naregatsi Art Institute was the host to the concert of 12-year-old Rafael Martirosyan within the series of events “Enbracing children with disabilities”.

Before the concert there was the screening of the short film about Rafael. Piano performances by Rafael Martirosyan and his friend, 13-year-old Vardan Aivazyan followed the film.

Since 2007 Rafael Martirosyan has been attending the International Child Development Center, which was opened in 2006 and works with autistic children. Today about 71 autistic children attend the center. Ergo therapist Inessa Harutyunyan works with Rafael, who is also a pianist and has been working with Rafael for about 3 years.

According to the teachers Rafayel is a rather capable and gifted child, has progress and knowledge in music, and has a very good command of the computer.

- We wanted the children to show their work, their progress, and if the child is ready to show his knowledge to the audience, it is a great achievement in the case of autism, - says the director of the International Center for Child Development Narine Vardanyan
